3 Choirs,

1 Program

Great music, great kids

When students enroll for choir they are given four options

  • Chorus 1

    • Year long chorus for 7th grade girls and boys and 8th grade girls with no prior choir experience

  • Chorus 2

    • Year long choir for 8th grade girls who have taken choir in 7th grade

  • Chorus 2 Men

    • Year long choir for 8th grade boys

The Breakdown

  • Wildcat Choir

    • Vocal music will no longer be a mixed choir, but an all girls/treble voices choir.

    • All vocal music students will sing and participate on field trips with chorus 1 members to create "Wildcat Chorus".

  • Cool Cats Chorus

    • Boys who sign up for choir are divided by grade level due to the nature of their voice changes. These two sections join together on concerts to become  "The Cool Cats Chorale."

  • Classy Cats Chorale

    • Chorus 2 will remain unchanged in enrollment, but will be divided into two sections. This means all Chorus 2 students will sing together on all concerts and participate in the same activities, they will just be separated into two different class periods. They will be called, "The Classy Cats."

Wildcat Choir

Cool Cats Chorus

The Classy Cats Chorale

Who is in Wildcat Choir?

  • Chorus 1 + Girls from Vocal Music

  • While the sections of Chorus 1 and Vocal Music will still remain separate; the semester long vocal music class will combine with chorus 1 on all concerts and field trip opportunities. This change was made to encourage more students to join vocal music, and hopefully encourage them to take vocal music not only the first semester but the second semester as well.

  • This will not take away opportunities from students who signed up for Chorus 1, only add opportunities for students who signed up for vocal music.

What is Wildcat Choir?

  • Wildcat Chorus is a beginning choir for girls/treble voices.

  • This choir is for 7th grade girls and 8th grade girls who haven't taken choir before.

What will we do in class?

  • Sing of course!

    • We will sing a variety of choir literature from all over the world. This music will represent all different cultures. â€‹

  • Music Reading Skills

    • We will learn the very basics of the staff, note names, solfege, rhythm reading and more. Don't be overwhelmed, there will be a lot of fun activities to learn these things!

  • Learn to be good people

    • A choir that doesn't work as a team is just a lot of random voices that happened to be singing at the same time. We will learn a lot more than music in this class!

Who is in the Cool Cats Chorus?

  • Chorus 2 (Men) + Boys from Vocal Music and Chorus 1

  • All Boys/Bass Voices who want to be in choir

  • If your student signed up for Vocal Music he will have the option to drop at semester (just like regular vocal music). If your student signed up for Chorus 2 Men he will still be in choir year round as he signed up for.

  • Vocal Music enrollees are encouraged to re-enroll for vocal music both semesters but due to schedule issues we know this cannot always be accommodated which is why vocal music will remain a semester long option.
