State Honor Choir

State Honor Choirs

These choirs are both statewide auditioned ensembles. Meaning students from the entire state of Kansas send in audition MP3's and all submissions go through a blind audition scoring process. Top scores are accepted into each choir. Students may only audition for one of these choirs as they happen at the same time. Ms. Z or your private voice instructor can help you choose which choir is better for you to audition for.

Both of these are held on Friday February 24th in Witchita, KS at the Century II Performing Arts Center. Students will rehearse in the morning and have a performance that evening. See below for more info about each choir.

    • This is a SATB choir meaning Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, & Bass can audition.

      • Unchanged male voices are not recommended for this choir. They should audition for the KCDA Treble honor choir. (Tenor parts are usually too low for unchanged)

    • Students must learn music on their own at home using practice tracks and sheet music.

    • Students who audition will sign (and have parents sign) a letter of intent before auditioning, acknowledging the full cost and commitment of being in this honor choir if selected. This is a big deal to "go to state"! This is the equivalent of a basketball state championship but for choir!
